Melvin R. SPain

Bishop Melvin R. Spain is a native of South Carolina, raised and reared by the late Deacon Simon J. Spain and Pastor Laura B. Spain.

Bishop Spain is a 1975 graduate of Conway High School. His education includes the Interdenominational Theological Center, where he earned a Certificate of Theology, and Monument of Faith Bible Institute & Theological Seminary, where he received an Associate of Theology degree.

He has been ministering for over 40 years, bringing deliverance, healing, and salvation to many. Through the power of God, Bishop Spain has witnessed demons cast out, souls saved, and lives transformed by the anointing of the Holy Spirit. In 1986, he was installed as the Pastor of St. Luke Church of God, where he faithfully served for over 30 years.

 

In 1996, by the divine will of God and under the leadership of the former Presiding Bishop, Pastor Spain was consecrated to the office of Bishop in the Lord's Church. In 2011, as a testament to his dedication to ministry and family, Bishop Spain began pastoring St. John Church of God to assist his ailing mother. For five years, he pastored both congregations until 2016, when he transitioned to serving as the full-time pastor of St. John Church of God.

Bishop Spain has been married to his lovely wife, Sharon, for over 30 years. Together, they have raised a strong and loving family, which includes four adult children, thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Bishop Spain spearheaded a water initiative to provide clean water to those affected by the deadly tornadoes in Tennessee, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to service beyond the church walls.

His dedication to his community spans decades. As a former basketball coach and a mentor at the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Conway, SC, Bishop Spain has impacted the lives of many young people. He has served on the Cemetery Committee for Sandridge Community Cemetery, was the former President of Sandridge Garden Club, and remains an active member of the Ministerial Association. Additionally, he has reached thousands through his longstanding radio ministry on WPJS Gospel 1330 AM in Conway, SC.

Bishop Spain is a devoted family man who cherishes spending time with his grandchildren and enjoys fishing. A passionate sports fan, he proudly supports the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Above all, Bishop Spain is a man of holiness, faith, and integrity, committed to preaching the Gospel and fulfilling the divine mandate to lead God’s people. His life and ministry are a testament to the power of God’s grace and anointing.
